Ambassador Julia Osamo Receives the Inspirational Pinnacle Excellence Learning Award at pleo award and gala night 2026

Celebrating Excellence in Education and Community Mental Health Advocacy

The event brought attention to two remarkable individuals whose work continues to make a meaningful difference in education, community development, and mental health support.

Through years of dedication and service, Ambassador Julia Osamo and Dr. Osamo have contributed significantly to improving opportunities and access to essential support within their communities.

Ambassador Julia Osamo Receives the Inspirational Pinnacle Excellence Learning Award

Ambassador Julia Osamo, also known as Mrs. SM, was honoured with the Inspirational Pinnacle Excellence Learning Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to education and her long-standing commitment to supporting young people.

With more than 30 years of experience as an educator, Ambassador Julia has worked in both Manchester and Sheffield, dedicating much of her career to creating better educational opportunities for children and young people.

A significant part of her work has involved establishing Saturday schools, providing students with additional academic support, guidance, and encouragement outside the traditional classroom environment.

These initiatives have helped young people strengthen their learning, build confidence, and prepare themselves for future academic opportunities.

Ambassador Julia has also supported students in gaining access to higher education, helping them overcome challenges that might otherwise limit their academic and professional aspirations.

Beyond teaching, she has become a strong advocate for young Black students, speaking out against discrimination and inequalities within educational systems.

Her commitment to equality and inclusion has helped create greater awareness of the challenges some students face while encouraging communities and institutions to provide fairer opportunities for everyone.

Receiving the Inspirational Pinnacle Excellence Learning Award reflects the impact of her decades of service, advocacy, and dedication to education.

Her journey demonstrates how committed educators can influence lives far beyond the classroom by creating opportunities, challenging inequalities, and empowering future generations.

Dr. Osamo Highlights the Importance of Accessible Mental Health Support

Dr. Osamo also shared important insights into his work as Chair of the Somali Mental Health Project in Sheffield.

His work focuses on helping members of the Somali community and other individuals overcome some of the barriers that can make accessing mental health services difficult.

These barriers can include language differences, cultural misunderstandings, stigma surrounding mental health, and difficulty navigating healthcare systems.

Through the Somali Mental Health Project, Dr. Osamo works to create stronger connections between communities and professional mental health services.

The project helps ensure that individuals are able to better understand the support available to them while also encouraging service providers to recognise the cultural and communication needs of the communities they serve.

By bridging these gaps, the project helps create an environment where individuals can feel more comfortable seeking support and discussing mental health challenges.

Dr. Osamo’s work highlights the importance of making mental health care not only available, but also accessible, culturally sensitive, and understandable to the people who need it most.

A Shared Commitment to Community Empowerment

Although their work focuses on different areas, Ambassador Julia Osamo and Dr. Osamo share a common commitment to improving lives through education, advocacy, inclusion, and community service.

Ambassador Julia’s work continues to open doors for young people through education and opportunity, while Dr. Osamo’s efforts are helping communities overcome barriers to essential mental health support.

Their contributions demonstrate the powerful impact that dedicated individuals can have when they use their experience and knowledge to serve others.

Together, their stories represent a strong message of empowerment, compassion, equality, and positive community change.

I can also make this version more formal and news-style for a website, or more emotional and celebratory for the award event blog.
